Top Cut Foods is Australia's national specialist butcher, supplying quality meat to Australian food businesses from six sites across Queensland, Sydney, Newcastle, Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia. Our team of 200+ people is in the middle of a growth program, and we are building a brand and a story that match the quality of our product.
You will join at an important time: the business is investing in how it shows up to customers, to the industry and to its own people.
Job Description
The Role
You will be Top Cut's in-house storyteller and events organiser: planning and running customer and industry events, creating content that makes our people and product look as good as they are, and running our social channels. This is a hands-on, do-it-yourself role, not a briefing-agencies role. You will shoot, write, post and organise, with the support of the leadership team.
After 12 months, success looks like:
A consistent, professional social presence (LinkedIn first, plus Instagram and Facebook) with a regular posting rhythm and growing engagement
A calendar of customer and industry events delivered on time and on budget, with measurable follow-up
A library of photo and video content from our sites, product and people that the sales team actually uses
A steady internal newsletter and comms rhythm that keeps 200+ people across seven sites connected
Top Cut regularly appearing in food and hospitality trade media
Key responsibilities
The role covers five areas, weighted roughly toward content and social (about 50%), then events (about 25%), with the rest split across internal comms, media and marketing operations.
Content creation and social media
Plan, shoot and edit short-form video and photography on site (production floors, product, people, customers) using phone and camera
Own the social calendar for LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook: plan, write, schedule, post and respond
Write engaging external content: case studies, product features, website copy, customer emails and LinkedIn thought-leadership pieces for our leadership team
Track performance and adjust: reach, engagement, lead and enquiry sources, reported monthly
Events
Plan and run customer events, tastings, site tours and supplier days, from concept and budget through to on-the-day delivery and follow-up
Coordinate our presence at food industry trade shows and expos, including stand design, collateral and logistics
Support internal events such as leadership conferences, town halls and team recognition
Internal communications
Write and produce a regular internal newsletter and leadership updates for a workforce of 200+ across six sites
Support culture and recognition campaigns with content that shows our people and their wins
Media and PR
Build and maintain relationships with food, hospitality and business media; pitch stories, respond to enquiries and place Top Cut in trade and local press
Prepare media releases, spokesperson briefs and basic media-response materials
Marketing operations and tools
Manage the website content, email marketing platform and CRM-linked campaigns alongside the sales team
Use AI, scheduling and design tools (Canva, Adobe, CapCut or similar) to work fast and keep the brand consistent
Manage a small marketing budget and external suppliers such as photographers, printers and event vendors
Support the sales team with brochures, presentations, tender collateral and product sheets
Desired Skills and Experience
About you
You are a doer with 5 to 7 years of marketing or communications experience who is equally comfortable planning an event, writing a LinkedIn post and filming a clip on the factory floor. Essential:
Proven experience running events end to end, such as customer functions, trade shows or corporate events
Strong writing across formats, from punchy social captions to polished media releases and internal updates (a portfolio or writing samples will be requested)
Hands-on photo and video skills: you can shoot, edit and publish content yourself, and can show examples
Advanced social media capability across LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook, including scheduling tools, analytics and paid boosting basics
Tech-savvy: fast with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite or CapCut, email platforms (Mailchimp, HubSpot or similar), website CMS and AI tools
Organised and reliable, with the ability to juggle several projects and deadlines without close supervision
Confident communicator who can work with a CEO, salespeople and operations staff alike
Based on the Gold Coast or willing to relocate before starting, with a current driver's licence
A degree in marketing, communications, journalism or a related field, or equivalent experience
Advantageous
Not required, but these will set you apart:
Experience in food, hospitality, FMCG, agribusiness or foodservice marketing, or a genuine passion for food and the meat industry
Existing relationships with food, hospitality or business media, journalists, editors, food bloggers or influencers on the Gold Coast, Brisbane or nationally
B2B marketing experience, particularly supporting a sales team in a foodservice or wholesale environment
Experience with paid social, SEO or email automation
Drone or videography credentials, or a strong personal content channel
Experience in a fast-moving, founder- or CEO-led business where you have had to build things from scratch
What we offer
A role with real scope and visibility.
Direct access to the CEO and leadership team, with a genuine say in how the Top Cut brand is shaped
A blank canvas: you build the content, events and social engine rather than inheriting one
Variety across product, people, customers and events, in a national business with seven sites
Room to grow into a Marketing Manager role as the business scales
